Random-ish #5: ComicCon at Home/Virtual Cons & Panels

0

Random-ish is a spin around social media and the internet into blerd/nerd, anime, music, pop culture, art, and podcasts. It is basically things we may not have discussed yet or may not get toWe also go around the web and see what’s going on around in the world.

In this edition, I am going to post a lot of the videos from the big one, Comic Con at Home. As always this con has a little bit for everyone. True, I do miss the Hall H madness from the biggest and newest movies, but don’t let that take all the fun away. I am mostly going to focus on videos that highlighted works by, featuring creators, actors, etc., of color. As always that’s the goal and of course. So enough chatting, Let’s get started! First off, Let’s give some love to this wonderful panel from Michael Watson, with Jason Reeves and Milton Davis as guests. I know its not from SDCC, but it’s one of the better things that happened this week. Yes, I am all in the comments lol.

.

Now lets kick off SDCC with a big one, LoveCraft Country panel

.

Yes folks, that is Erika Alexander from one of your favorite shows of all time, was on this panel. A very interesting conversation.

.

.

.

As you can see from the last two videos, the creators of Bitter Root were all over SDCC. Congrats on the award.

.

The Boys Season 2 panel was a fun time. Can’t wait for the new season.

I met Valentine Barker at Big Easy Con. A real chill guy and I loved his art.

.

The legendary DMC makes an appearance, alongside the legendary Larry Hama, creator of the G.I Joe comics.

.

.

So that’s it for now. As of the now the con is still going on. We will probably add more to this post. Maybe I will add a part 2 for more of the mainstream stuff.

.

Update: I had to add the panel for The Dragon Prince. The readings were great.

.

Of course you know I had to add the panel for the Avatar series ( the real one not the blue alien movie thats coming out whenever) As most know the stories for Aang and Kora continued in the comics. Check it out and watch the series on Netflix .

.

Blerd Galaxy is a community organization dedicated to reporting on nerd media with the Blerd consumer in mind. Check out their panel with NerdSoul. Click Below.

.

I even popped up on a panel myself early in the corona shutdown timeline. The great thing about this panel was meeting some folks who I now sell their books or some possibly in the future. Collabs and working together.. how indies grow.

.

Here a couple videos from an event I love to watch each year, The Black Comic Book Festival. One of the last few cons you will see people actually at in a building in 2020. You can see the other panels here. Just look for the wonderful art from previous podcast guest, David Heredia.

.

So speaking of virtual cons… Check out the upcoming #midcitymicrocon2020. Some our previous podcast guests such as Greg Burnham ( he is in the video above as well), Gamma Rae of the Geeked Up podcast and my crossover episode partner ( will be posted soon) , Ninja YoYo, Trapped in Anime, will be a part of this 3rd year con based in Baton Rouge. So far this has been the best virtual con I have seen. The Rent Party featured many award winning creators. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t checked it out.

.

Speaking of comics… Check out the new and revamped comic shop. We are constantly adding our inventory of independent comic creators and books from 3rd party affiliates as Bookstore. org and Things From Another World. You can still get things in these pandemic times.
